 Cabinetry Project of the Month August 2011 “We feel like we are living in a new home, we can’t believe this is really our house. We absolutely love it…” Joe & Dorothy W. – Joliet, IL  When Joe & Dorothy start to tell the story of their newly remodeled kitchen they laugh, “it all started with a new tv”. Today, Joe and Dorothy are thrilled with the outcome of their new kitchen. In the past when they thought about brightening up their kitchen they thought they would paint the walls and give the room a fresh look. Then, two years ago, they received an inheritance from Joe’s parents that made it possible for them to start on a remodeling project that would go beyond a fresh coat of paint. Joe & Dorothy have lived in their home for 35 years and felt their 1970’s kitchen was in need of some updating. For their family the kitchen has been the heart of their home for their large family and they felt that using their inheritance to create a warm welcoming feeling to the heart of their home would be a lasting tribute to the memory of Joe’s parents and would provide for years of memories with family and friends.  In tackling this project Joe & Dorothy worked Greg & Rosie of Saint Joseph Cabinetry and leaned on their expertise for design ideas, choosing countertops, cabinetry hardware and even sought advice on paint selections. “Saint Joseph is absolutely the best place to go for quality service and products for your home. Greg and Rosie are so personable and make you feel so welcome”, said Joe & Dorothy. By the use of technology and years of design experience St. Joe’s was able to take Joe & Dorothy’s wish list that called for added functionality and style and blend their needs into a kitchen that provides organization, functionality and the warmth a family can enjoy together.  Joe & Dorothy chose beautiful raised panel cherry cabinets with a honey stain and mocha glaze that really adds dimension to the detail of the cabinetry giving them that “wow” factor. In working with Greg & Rosie throughout the design process they were able to widen the doorway into their family room along with the doorway into their dining room giving the rooms a better flow. Additionally they were able to integrate a built in pantry, peninsula, eating area and butler area creating new work spaces and new areas for entertaining.  When Joe & Dorothy get back to telling how it all began with a TV, again, they laugh, “we just wanted to replace our old TV with a new flat screen and an entertainment center, but then we thought….what if we remodel the kitchen…”
