Julie G. - Wheaton, IL  She was outvoted 3 to 1, but Julie still believes she came up a winner with her new 1950s-style basement family living space in their Wheaton home. "I wanted contemporary, but my husband and two daughters wanted 1950s," she says. An engineer, she admits she has a strong conservative, practical side that wasn’t at first overjoyed with the color choices her interior designer gave her for that era. "She said I could go with red, black and white or grey, pink and turquoise," Julie recalls. "I made my decision on the red, black and white based on what countertops were available." Julie Julie originally decided to go with white cabinetry for the beverage center and service bar that would be the central pieces in her new living space. Directed to St. Joseph Cabinetry & Designs by her contractor, Julie was encouraged and inspired by all that the design team at Saint Joseph had to offer that soon she found herself looking at installing something a little more daring. "The design team at St. Joseph, encouraged me to look through books, and was diligent, showing me everything that was out there. I saw these red cabinets and I said ‘This is it’." They look shiny, like metal, with rounded edges. They are very nice cabinets. It was hard for me to put in red cabinets, but they are the biggest ‘wow’ factor down here."
