Splishin’ & Splashin’ is the theme of this month’s Project of the Month.  Kirk & Terri knew exactly what they wanted when it came to finishing their basement.  They had already created a summertime backyard dream with an in-ground pool and entertainment  spaces around the pool to celebrate and soak up the rays.  So when it came to finishing their basement they knew they wanted a space that would take advantage of the walkout feature of their basement and would create a nice transition out to their pool area allowing them the ability to entertain both inside and out. 

 

As the planning began Terri and Kirk met with Greg and the designers at Saint Joseph to plan their basement space.  During the planning stages Saint Joseph was able to identify a list of needs and wants that were important to Terri & Kirk.  One important feature was ample storage for pool supplies, towels and don’t forget the pool toys!  They also wanted a serving area that could provide an area for quick snacks for the kids to keep up their energy levels and hydration from fun day at the pool. 

 

Terri & Kirk chose a beautiful cherry wood in a rich heritage stain complete with distressing to give the cabinets a bit of an old world feel to match the Tuscan décor throughout their home.  They also chose to finish the front of the bar area with stone work that matched the fireplace and also blends onto the family room wall.

 

The bar area features a large seating area, beautiful shelving, wine racks and glass door cabinets to display their glasses and stemware.   The area then transitions beautifully with the accent of a 3 sided fireplace for those nights when the weather turns colder.  The family room area features an oversized entertainment area, complete with a flat screen television, and beautiful cabinetry to house their audio/visual equipment, movies and music.

 

Terri, Kirk and their family couldn’t be happier with the outcome.  Their new finished space allows them to enjoy the inside and outside features of their home and allows them to spend more quality time together laughing, playing and making memories that will last a lifetime.
