 Cabinetry Project of the Month June 2011 The kitchen looks absolutely beautiful & we couldn’t be happier!” –George & Lisa M., Naperville, IL  When George and Lisa took a good look at the functionality of their beautiful Naperville home, they found that they loved their home, but their kitchen was just too small to accommodate their family tradition of big Sunday Dinners. Their existing kitchen was small and narrow and a wall separated their kitchen from the dining room, a room they rarely used. During the course of the planning process the idea came to remove the wall between the two rooms and open the kitchen up and make the space much more functional.  Then came the challenges. The first challenge was a beautiful window that brought natural light into the room, but limited the options for a breakfast area or island. In assessing the space Saint Joseph designers were able to address the challenge of the window by contouring and customizing the shape of the peninsula to allow the beauty of the natural light in while providing a seating area around the peninsula. The second challenge was to define the dining area of the kitchen that was formerly the dining room while providing needed storage for serving dishes and glassware. The challenge to incorporate the dining area of the now larger kitchen into the rest of the space was overcome by designing a dramatic buffet that would define the dining area, help with storage and provide a needed serving area.  The outcome, beautiful Cherry wood cabinets with tons of storage, a uniquely shaped island, that according to George & Lisa say they hadn’t planned on, but now find a necessity. A great peninsula for entertaining and a beautiful custom furniture looking buffet that gracefully serves the dining area that once stood alone as a lonely dining room.  In completing the project George & Lisa said they couldn’t be happier, “we could not have asked for anything more beautiful! Truly love everything about the kitchen, cabinets are beautiful and the buffet is gorgeous. Saint Joe’s planned out the whole kitchen and every detail was planned to perfection! Greg & Rosie are the best! So professional and accommodating to us remodeling novices!”
