Special Finishes

Beautiful cabinetry is more than just the wood that creates the cabinets.  It's also the carefully applied finishes that enhance the wood's natural beauty, or add new dimensions to the cabinetry's look.

Glazing is one way of finishing cabinetry.  By adding a glaze material to a base stain or paint and hand rubbing the glaze product onto a cabinet's door, a finisher can enhance and improve the beauty of the wood and the base color.  The glaze settles into the cabinet door's corners and edge areas, defining the details of the cabinetry.

In addition to glazing, a distressed effect can be achieved by sanding or rubbing through the finish.  This will give the cabinetry an aged look.  Through the use of crown moldings, furniture-style legs and feet, and other finishing techniques, St. Joseph's designers can aid you in choosing the products that are right for the look that you want to achieve.
